The excellent and free World of Tanks is one today, coincidentally, the 5-years to the day since I left the Army…
It seems like World of Tanks updates are like buses. None for ages then a bunch of them…
Coming soon and looking good…
Tomorrow sees new tanks, a new map and rather surprisingly the time line for releases 1-year out, which is unusual to say the least…

Several changes, the most significant being:
A little Rainmeter skin I knocked up which delivers your current awesomeness to your desktop…
This is a pretty substantial update to the game with the highlights listed below and the whole list shown here.
Well, now that I have pimped T-54, Panther II, Aus B, Maus & Jagtiger it is time to say goodbye to them as the game (detailed here) gets wiped and replaced today with the full release. This is still in progress at the time of writing…
Anyway, this should bring more maps/tanks/fixes/gameplay modes to the table. It’s free to play, though you can buy in-game gold to pimp your tanks, speed crew training and so on if you feel the need. More details at the World of Tanks website.
Mods:
There are all sorts of Mods, none of which I have bothered with apart from the following:
I’m colour blind & I cannot see red enemy makers on the green backgrounds for tanks or the dots on the mini map (now if they could make that bigger).
There is a Colour Blind mod which has a red HUD which is almost invisible to me, however the minimap dots are Green/Puprle and bigger & I can see them ok. Bryzdal’s Crosshairs mod gives a blue/yellow HUD which I can see but does not affect the mini-map.
The fix for me is to install Colour Blind first, then Bryzdal’s. This results in minimap with dots I can see, enemy tank icons in game I can see and aiming reticule I can see.
No idea what the new version today will do to these essential changes for me…
Big update with lots of fixes, in particular my beloved Panther II gets a buff…
