Always worth a peek to see what people actually play as opposed to what publishers claim we are, clearly these figures are coloured by the fact I am posting first thing in the morning, might be worth a look this evening:

With Xmas just on the horizon, I thought it might be interesting to see what is selling well on Steam ahead of their sales:

1. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam – I don’t like the BC2 gameplay, so not much point in buying this.
2. Call of Duty: Black Ops – A disappointing release and a backwards step from MW2 tbh.
3. Worms Reloaded – Colourful short term fun.
4. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 – I’m not sure if it’s the poor graphics, the odd feeling physics or the useless weapons that make me dislike this game I so much wanted to enjoy.
5. Sid Meier’s Civilization V – New coat of paint, but the same old game which left me disappointed.
6. Empire: Total War – Pass not my kind of game at all.
7. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit -I’m still playing Blur (£10 in the last Steam sale), so currently not required, I’ll pick it up when the price drops.
8. Football Manager 2011 – Not my thing but clearly it sells well every year.
9. Flight Control HD – Looks like something from the wife’s iPhone and the price would seem to confirm that.
10. Fallout New Vegas – More Fallout lunacy.

Looking at the Steam Status page something has gone pop today.

Shame really, I fancied some MW2 as the new maps have finally be added to the normal game rotation i.e. Team DM etc.  I still don’t like BC2 and the statistics seem to agree with me…

BC2 is number 13:

The beta removes the ancient and to be fair, tired looking interface and replaces it with something that looks 21st Century & lot more Win 7 like…

The more I use Steam, the fonder I become of it, especially after there very good Xmas sale.  It’s the whole I want that game and I want it now, without going to the shops thing, although the 11 Gig download of MW2 took a while, even with my connection.  Oh, it’s also nice on the road to put some of the more modest games they offer on a laptop…
