Whilst I like the performance hike it promises, I’m already running WiMo 6.5 on my original Touch HD and I have to say WiMo 7 needs to be a compelling buy before I upgrade…

I’ve been using custom ROMs on my mobile phone for a long time.  Occasionally a ROM turns up that I can’t voice dial with as the relevant file is missing.  I just want to say a name to the Bluetooth in the car and it dials like it used to. Of course, my new ROM doesn’t have it…

It’s pain to find the info, but it turns out not to be a part of Windows Mobile, but a stand alone application called  Cybertron Voice Speed Dial

Should you be using a cooked ROM that has it missing the relevant cab file is here, pop it on your phone, then run the file to install and the familiar Voice Speed Dial will be added to Programme files…

Mmm, shiny…

The HTC-built and (soon to be) Google-sold device runs Android 2.1 atop a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 3.7-inch, 480 x 800 display, has 512MB of ROM, 512MB of RAM, and a 4GB microSD card (expandable to 32GB).

So despite being another cash cow for Apple, they don’t seem to be keeping the developers quitte so happy…

Just a day after the developer of the popular iPhone Facebook app turned his back on the project, another high profile developer has walked away from the ecosystem after expressing dismay at the reviews process.

Hmm, interesting question, having used it for the last 6 months or so it simply feel like a make over rather than a new OS.  Some of the comments make interesting reading though.

Whilst I am impressed by the iPhone, I don’t like the OS and consider iTunes and the associated crap it drops all over my hard drive to be a step away from malware.

I still prefer the more familiar windows based smart phones and I am the happy owner of the Touch HD.  So news on its possible replacement caught my eye…

A source familiar with HTC’s plans also told Register Hardware that the Touch HD 2 will be significantly faster than the original – and faster than the vast majority of HTC handsets to date
