I’m not sure why the BBC are covering a random LAN Party in Durban, but perhaps it will take the mystery out of the subject for the uninitiated.  The earliest record I can find of my own attendance at a LAN is Jan 2003.  Which means I must have been to some in 2002 as I can see Woody next to me in the random shots…

Safe to say that they are not exactly a new thing.
