Mostly playing with some of the new features with the massively improved Blinkfeed (now available from the play store for all Android users) and the bizare decision to make the clock white in the day and dark in the night, so looks extremely odd alongside Google Play as you can see on the right.
The handset comes with a cover (not that I will use it) and is simply beautiful to look at and makes the plastic Samsung offering look tatty in comparison.
Amazingly there are custom ROMs available already and I will given them a week or two for the early adopters to identify before applying one. This will allow me to remove all the crap I don’t want or use like Twatter, FaceBonk, Goggle+ and so on.
Anyhow, early days and I am pretty happy with it so far…
My phone, the rather nice Touch HD is 2 and the wife vomited on it earlier (long story) which was all the encouragement I needed to replace it. Clearly I wanted something shiny, powerful and new, preferably that allows me to make phone calls, so that’s the iPhone out of the equation. I currently see no point in Facebook or Twitter, so Win7 mobiles and their tight integration has no attraction either. Cue Android, and the HTC Desire HD.
My sim has to be migrated as the Carphone Warehouse is now essentially O2, I retain my number, but the new toy is not fully functional until it completes, but it does allow me to play with most of it and I have to say that it is fast and pretty straight forward to use. The guide (including videos) cover the essentials, not it’s a matter of waiting for the sim migration to complete so that the connected apps & the app store function as intended.
