I thoroughly enjoyed the opening of the Olympics last night, a great spectacle.  Given that they were all athletes, it might have been better if the 204 teams jogged in…

Well, we are mere hours away from the new season and it seems appropriate to update your calendar, better to import than to click on the download as in Outlook you end up with two calendars.

Next sign up (free) at the F1 website for an account and then download the Andoid or iPhone (even Blackberry for the unlucky) live stats app.

Live Timing, the same details seen by the teams is also available for PCs here.

So I’ve been waiting impatiently for the F1 Season to start and of course the middle east is busy having it’s equivalent of the Berlin Wall coming down as the people there show they want change to the corruption that runs their countries.  This has cost us the first race of the season so far, with the knock on effect of preventing the BBC from releasing their calendar showing coverage times

I am surprised how primitive the graphics look tbh, no doubt the screens and the car movements compensate a lot for that though…

I’m a big Formula 1 fan and have watched it for many years. It’s also been a very long time since there was a decent F1 sim out Jeff Crammond’s GP4 springs to mind, but I have to say I like the look of F1 2010 which you can pre-load on Steam @ £26.99 now.  Given input from former F1 driver Anthony Davidson and the long list of other credits on their site, this may well deliver.

The video below shows footage of the unfinished Korean track and the F1 2010 version with the stands, hoardings and crash barriers added, which looks pretty impressive.

The website is as usual, full of videos, imagery and downloads and as always the wallpaper is not big enough for those of us lucky enough to own massive monitors.  Impressively, it shows some 2009 cars (Brawn GP) showing the development has been lengthy, but it will deliver 2010 drivers & cars.

I don’t like football, but usually don’t mind the world cup, although this year may change that…

They were crap.

JOHANNESBURG—Members of the South Africa Vuvuzela Philharmonic Orchestra, widely considered to be among the best large-scale monotonic wind instrument ensembles in the world, told reporters Friday they were furious over the recent outbreaks of international soccer matches during their traditional outdoor concerts.
