We recently celebrated out Silver Wedding anniversary with a trip to the Maldives. There’s a new gallery here.

So, I update Java to patch the vulnerability, remove AVG and replace it with Avast following this months PC Pro AV round up where it trounced the former in detection, memory footprint and interface/useability and the start screen in Windows 8 is full of crap again (not that I use it, I permanently get desktop). I just removed all the stuff that slapped itself there without asking me and it looks much better…
I like my watch, it’s simple, does the job and kind of retro yet elegant. Sadly it got broken yesterday along with my motorcycle when a car decided to overtake by driving through me at about 60 mph, which was nice, no prizes for guessing what time I did an impersonation of a rag-doll…
Still apart from a torn knee ligament, ripping head-ache, tinnitus a selection of very tender and sore bits, and being stupidly stiff this morning it seems I’m tougher than my watch as I still work. Just…
Changes with the hosts (all improvements) and several changes with the CMS (WordPress) have perked up site performance and reduced the maintenance overhead as auto-patching works again instead of me having to manually apply each and every update, which is nice.
Still not posting a lot as my time is gobbled up by travel, Star Trek Online, World of Tanks and Rainmeter skin development…
Well, after a week of headaches & homework (oh to be young) that’s another qualification in the bag (two in fact: Foundation & Practitioner) and a reminder that there is always something new to learn. Hopefully something more interesting on a personal level rather than a professional one.
This weekend includes thing such as update all the outdated back-end files (done), figure out what broke the Quotes generator and fix, plus add some new ones from a marvellous book my brother bought me (done). Investigate the performance issues on the killboard (server-side it seems). Do the month’s expenses and seek new job
I’ve been trying to understand why all photo galleries get the header from the main page, rather than the comments for the individual gallery. This was spurred on by me adding two galleries this morning and noticing the unwanted behaviour. I am tinkering to resolve it…
I previously mentioned the fix for the taskbar tab preview in Windows 7, which Firefox 4 beta has on by default. This means I see millions of stacked tabs during normal usage, worse still, hovering over the tab means I see loads of pages like this.
This is how to remove them:
Another annoyance with fresh Firefox installs is running a search results in Google appearing on top of the page you are looking at, which is unhelpful in a tabbed browser if you want to cross reference something. This is how to change this behaviour so that search result always opens in their own tab:
/rant mode off
Required manual intervention again to apply the current update to the site CMS, which is annoying tbh, but another job complete I can forget about…always worth keeping software up-to-date though. Especialially when this version plugs holes in the security…
