There are quite a few oddities with Mircrosoft’s new OS, although it would appear to be Vista Service Pack 3 which brings a new rather drab UI in much the same way that Win7 was Vista with tweaks and a slightly prettier face.
In short you get a rather fugly flat looking desktop and some tiles on a brightly coloured “Start” screen that might be OK on a tablet, however on a big monitor they are swamped and to be frank who would stare at that screen for more than a few seconds? It might be a fun place for people who smother their desktops with icons, becomes a major irritant every time you hit the Winkey to switch windows to a place that brings nothing useful to a desktop PC.
First up Winkey + H which allows you to Share, or at least it would if it actually worked. Why add a none functioning keyboard shortcut?
I previously mentioned the fix for the taskbar tab preview in Windows 7, which Firefox 4 beta has on by default. This means I see millions of stacked tabs during normal usage, worse still, hovering over the tab means I see loads of pages like this.
This is how to remove them:
Another annoyance with fresh Firefox installs is running a search results in Google appearing on top of the page you are looking at, which is unhelpful in a tabbed browser if you want to cross reference something. This is how to change this behaviour so that search result always opens in their own tab:
/rant mode off
Taskbar tab preview in Windows 7, is normally fine, but the Firefox 4 beta has this on by default which means I see millions of stacked tabs. This is how to remove them:
/rage mode off
I can make them go up and down, 2010 World Champion Jenson Kimmett can do a bit more…

A reminder for all forums tbh, I’m postING here so I can find it again…
